Welcome to Peter and Xiaoli Tours. We apologise for our website as it has not been updated since covid. We no longer actively canvas for work as for about the 4th time I decided it was time to retire. Then mid last year emails started coming plus phone calls asking if we would come out of retirement.
We are still very active doing what we term long haul tours anywhere from 7 days to 30. This last season mostly with German groups 10 to 15 people but also a few UK groups similar size.
We do not have set routes despite a few shown on this website. We design to the client brief as to what you seek.
There is no question that we are lower in costs than the larger operators and that is because we handle the whole tour ourselves from planning, booking and driving/guiding.
We are happy to build in nature walks as part of the tour. Or photography, fishing, hunting, golfing etc. Whatever you seek.
For us it is important you enjoy your time with us as you are the ones that bring us our ongoing business. We are not out there marketing hard and aggressively. We survive on word of mouth referrals.
When not touring, we are enjoying setting up our small 50 acre farm. A mix of mature native bush amongst beautiful rolling hills of farmland. Remote and idyllic with meandering stream running through and a river on the boundary. We are remote with our closest neighbor 1km away and closest city 1 hour away.
We do not need to partake in tourism anymore as we consider ourselves semi retired. But we do it because we love showing overseas people this beautiful country we live in.

Peter and Xiaoli both originate from large business backgrounds and launched Peter and Xiaoli Tours in 2009. Every tour is individually planned to meet the brief and wish list supplied by the person contracting us. No 2 tours are ever the same.
We offer extensive knowledge of New Zealand. First and foremost we are a ‘sightseeing’ tour company. Peter loves to use the camera and will show the best sites to get your own scenery photography. Or just leave to Peter and on conclusion of the tour at no extra cost we will supply on USB a photo library/record of your tour with us.
We have toured with many different nationalities. We understand cultural differences.
